Villa in Madliena

Shaw Contractors were entrusted with the complete construction and finishing of an exclusive luxury residence in Madliena, one of Malta's most sought-after locations. The client envisioned a high-end home with impeccable finishes, modern infrastructure, and seamless integration of functional and aesthetic elements. Shaw Contractors delivered a turnkey solution, managing the project from initial groundwork to the final finishing touches.

Scope of works

The project brought together eight areas of work under a single contractor: screed, plaster, gypsum, tiling, waterproofing, electrical, plumbing and project management. Delivering them as one turnkey package meant the client had one point of contact, and every stage could be planned around the next.

Project management

Project management ran through the whole build. Our role was to plan and sequence the trades, coordinate suppliers and keep the works moving from groundwork through to handover, so each stage was ready for the one that followed and the finished villa reflected the client's vision.

Electrical and plumbing

The electrical and plumbing installations were coordinated early, so cabling, conduits and pipework were in place before floors, walls and ceilings were closed up. Getting these services right at this stage underpins the modern infrastructure the client asked for, and avoids disruptive alterations once finishes are complete.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing was carried out to keep water out of the structure before finishes were applied. For a luxury home with high-end finishes, this hidden layer is what protects everything built on top of it.

Screed

Screed was laid to create level, consistent bases for the floor finishes, covering the services beneath and setting the correct floor levels throughout the residence.

Plaster and gypsum

Walls and ceilings were plastered to provide smooth surfaces for decoration, while gypsum work was used to form ceilings and interior elements, giving the villa clean lines and concealing services from view.

Tiling

Tiling completed the floors and finishes, installed on the prepared bases to deliver the impeccable, high-end result the client envisioned.

The result

From the first stages on site to the final finishing touches, the residence was delivered as a complete, turnkey project. Bringing structure, services and finishes together under one contractor allowed the functional and aesthetic sides of the home to be planned as one, rather than pieced together by separate firms.
